Name: Monolithstar
Warrior name: Monolithstep
Age: 37 moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: RippleClan
Rank: Leader
Pelt: Monolithstar is a well-built tom with strength to equal many warriors, and this gave him his name. (It means 'immovable', or it can also mean 'block of stone'. This describes both his build and his pelt well.) He inherited his powerful muscles from his father, Stealthfoot, who is now in StarClan but used to be a warrior of FreeClan. His short fur is sleek and soft to the touch, yet it is still waterproof so he can easily swim in the rivers scattered throughout RippleClan's territory. All of his body carries the same solid grey fur - although perhaps various areas of his fur look different due to the light -, and no other shade taints his impressive pelt. At the tips of some of the hairs the fur appears silver, especially in the starlight. His ears are finely shaped, and so are his fine silvery-grey whiskers. His muzzle boasts a touch more silver than the rest of his fur, but there is not a hugely noticeable difference. He has average-length legs – although they are definitely stronger-looking than most – and his claws are jet black, the colour of a starless night sky. Monolithstar's paws are at least twice the size of an apprentice's paws, so don't do anything that deserves a cuff around the ear when he's near. His tail has a small tuft of fur at the end of it that sticks out; His tail is also of average length.
Eyes: His eyes are so pale, it’s hard to tell exactly what colour they are, but they are a very, very light shade of amber. His pupils cut thin black slits in the surrounding amber.
Mate: None. His former mate, Velvetsky, died in a fierce battle with ShadeClan.
Kin: Stealthfoot (father, deceased warrior of FreeClan), Larkcrest (killed in battle), Cavernpaw (daughter, missing).
Personality: The most important thing in Monolithstar’s life used to dominate his personality – his family. When he was a younger, more carefree warrior his whole being revolved around the simple, yet at the same time complex, matter of love. Velvetsky was his only concern, apart from the Clan, of course. The brown tabby she-cat meant everything to him, and this reflected in not only the way he conducted himself around her but also in the way he treated others. Ever since he was a young apprentice, he had always known that his superior strength was a gift that he had to use wisely and, in a way, this helped him to become more gentle and considerate. This honed his general mildness too, and it was this quality – not his strength and power – that attracted Velvetsky to him. He was never dominated by pride as some young toms were. Instead, he tended to be humble. Until the birth of his three kits, the most pride he had ever felt was hearing the Clan leader announce his warrior name. Some of this pride was short-lived, for one of the kits was still-born, but the memories of his young family would always live on as long as he did. An extremely low point in his life, one that highly diminished his sense of self-worth, was when he found out his father was a warrior of FreeClan. Monolithstep went into a kind of shell for a few moons, unable to believe the truth about his origins. It was a major shock to learn that he only half-belonged to the Clan he had worked so hard to protect. Not many cats learned of this new development; luckily it was only his close friends who did, for there were certainly those who would have loved to spoil his good reputation. His son died of kittencough just after he was starting to become himself again, and this proved to be yet another solid blow to the warrior. Now only his daughter, Cavernkit, remained out of the litter. It was about this time that his personality began to become a little more callous, as if he felt that he had to fight himself and his feelings to survive. He never became arrogant but he started to drift away from Velvetsky, as if he thought that his love for her might cause her to be taken from him too. After all, StarClan can be harsh at times. He began to spend more time alone, and to this day he has times when he truly needs to be alone with his thoughts. Usually, though, he is willing to spend time training apprentices or leading patrols, for he really wants to be involved in Clan life. There was never a more willing, loyal cat. He would lay his life on the line for any member of RippleClan, because after the next tragedy that struck his life, he felt as though he had nothing left to lose. The fiercest battle he could remember took the life of not only his dear mother but also that of his beloved Velvetsky. This, to put it simply, broke his heart. There has never been a day since that clash that he hasn’t remembered the wonderful she-cat and felt an aching empty space in his heart. It wasn’t long ago that his daughter, Cavernpaw, went missing, but this time there is a refusal to believe that the little tabby she-cat is dead. He has enormous faith in StarClan that, one day, they will bring his little she-kit back to him and he will be reunited with the closest thing to Velvetsky that he has left. Monolithstar is still generally gentle and extremely faithful to his Clan, but the terrible loneliness has remained as strong as ever.
Yes, he is free. But sometimes life can be so empty.
