Shining down upon them were pure moonbeams. The obsidian she-cat was glowing bright silver, and the light even seemed to dance around her. On her. Off of her. It was everywhere. She let out a small peal of laughter, so quiet and ominous that perhaps it had never happened. Only StarClan knew. One paw followed after the other, and she felt safe. Trailing closely behind her was her medicine cat. "Nervous, Serenitystream?" She heard the tiny voice behind her. No words could describe her feeling, so she did not answer the question.
Her grassy eyes were trained upon the path before her, and she closed them for a single moment. Behind her eyelids it was still sterling, but she could not see. She put her trust into her own feet, and she approached the small pool. Flashing open with rich color, her eyes opened. She looked down upon the small spring, and then bent down her head. She took a quick drink of water, and sat her bottom to the cool ground.
Ripples twirled and winded around each other in small circles, and then the water was calm. Unusually calm. Her reflection in the pool had never been more clear. Around her she spotted silhouettes of cats around her reflection. Vision blurring, numbness spreading, and muscles relaxing, Serenitystream closed her eyes and collapsed gently onto the ground.
--------------------
She let out a small gasp as she gained conciousness. She was deep inside the birch forest of SilverClan, and a horrible feeling of confusion swept over her. Hadn't she been at the Star Pool?! She stood up quickly, and then she felt eyes on her.
"Serenitystream... You have come at last."
The voice was soft, and there were many tones to it. She pieroutted around on her paws and found herself facing many cats. "Great StarClan!" she exclaimed in surprise and excitement.
"Serenitystream. There is no time to waste. You are here to recieve your nine lives, and there are nine of us that were chosen especially to give each one to you. Please step forward so we may begin this process."
The voice spoke again, but this time she noticed it was all of the cats speaking at once. She attempted to step forward, but ended up stumbling towards the cats. As she did this, a tiny kit padded closer and directly to the front of her. Both she-cats tilted their heads to the side, and Serenitystream seemed to remember this small kitten. "Who are you?" she whispered.
The kitten had flecks of silver and black upon her muddy fur. Her eyes, a shocking blue with the silver tinge of StarClan in them, stared right through Serenitystream. "You ask questions you could have answered for yourself." the kit meowed sweetly. The deputy squinted her eyes and looked at the miniture cat for one more moment. "I am your sister, Serenitystream. I am Siltkit, named after the fertile soil that is deposited among the banks of the many water sources of SilverClan. I died from the poisonous berries found in a medicine cat's den. Curiosity killed me." the tiny kit squeaked out in an even voice.
Serenitystream stared at the kit. It was her sister, her own blood, and she had not been able to recognize the tiny body. "Siltkit, it is good to meet you for the second time." she purred to her young sibling. "We need to hurry, sister. We have little time before the daylight shall break." the muddy cat mewed. She nodded to her sister, and then looked down upon her.
--------------------
"With this life, I give you the feeling of loss."
The small kit stalked across the ground quickly, and put her tiny head down upon Serenitystream's front right paw. The elder sibling felt grief and longing come over her, and she felt the pain of a broken heart well up from inside of her. The sensation to cry was strong, and it overwhelmed her, but she must be strong. It was only the first of the nine lives. Realizing she had closed her eyes, she opened them and stared at her little sister with a mourning look upon her face. The little cat dipped her head and went to stand among the ranks of other cats.
Now approaching her was a very handsome tom named Autumnspirit. His eyes were the most vibrant and beautiful things that the she-cat had ever seen. Irises hardly affected by the silver tone of StarClan cats' eyes and body, she could clearly see that they were a wonderous mixture of warm colors. The shades were that of the amazing trees' leaves in Leaf-fall, and Serenitystream was immeadiately attracted to this diseased tom.
"I am Autumnspirit, and I shall give you the gift of love, longing, and attraction."
His voice was gentle, and she shuddered at the feeling of his head upon her own ebony and ashen one. This life was by far the most entertaining for herself and for the cats of StarClan. She felt what seemed to be absolute hunger, deprivision, and starvation. Serenitystream did not want prey, but the handsome tom. She loved him now. The life did not ebb as early as the first one had, and she was surprised by the electric shock that went through her now. It was worry, jealousy, and the breaking of her heart.
Once the feelings had ended, Autumnspirit's head did not budge. She heard the quiet and mystical chuckle of a cat becoming amused at the sight. The starry tom took the burden of his head off of her's, touched his nose to her's, and stepped back into the small crowd of cats. A sharp intake of breath came from her, and she let out the air so that she could clear her mind of the drunkeness that the tom had placed upon her.
"I am Violetrhapsody, and I am to give you the life of fairness."
A young warrior had stepped forward. The cat's eyes were a deep purple color, and she was very pretty. She set her head down upon the deputy's own and transfered the next life. The pain was less astonishing, but no where near being pleasant. It made her cold, but she felt wise in knowing she would be able to make fair decisions for her Clan.
--------------------
Her body was rendered numb, but she could feel her muscles and bones beginning to ache as she came to. Serenitystar had awoken. "Come, we must be on our way now." her voice crackled from lack of use even for such a small time. The numbness she had felt had been from the pain of so many lives. Emotional and physical. Every time it got worse until it was the ninth. The ninth life had been somewhere near pleasant only by the intensity. She stretched once, and then made her way home, closely followed by her medicine cat.
