Silkfur-Silkstar
Paw steps faltering on the ground, Silkfur stood a little ways from the Starpool. Her medicine cat was at her side, waiting for her to move forward, so that she could receive nine life, and then her name would be changed forever. Her pelt was bristling somewhat, for she new that she was not ready for this; she did not feel that this was her destiny, what she was supposed to do. She attempted to step forward, but her paws would not obey her. Finally, her medicine cat took a deep breath, obviously annoyed that she wouldn't move; she gave her a light shove. Silkfur stumbled forward, and in her eyes was terror, for she was not ready for what was to come.
As she reached the Starpool, she glanced down, deep into its depths. She could see the stars reflecting in it, her ancestors looking down on her, she kneeled down, eyes trained on the eyes water. Her tongue snapped out once, dipping into the water for less then a second. Her pelt instantly felt like there was a million tiny bugs crawling all over it. Slowly, her eyes drifted shut, closing her to the world, and opening her to another.
She stood in a small clearing, the moon glowing down on her and lighting the shadows around her, slowly, she could make out nine other cats, all in a circle around her. It was too dim of light to make them out though. She squinted, trying to see, but really it was impossible. Suddenly, one of the cats moved forward, and she recognized her former leader, Guststar. She drew in a large breath, bowing her head lightly, when she looked back up, Guststar did the same, and this scared her in a way. ,"You have made it a long way, Silkfur, and now it is time to follow your destiny,"
Guststar stepped back, not giving her, her first life. Instead, a tom, foggy in her memories, but unmistakable, stepped forward. Fierceclaw, her father. She murmured his name, her eyes beginning to water as she looked at him. She felt a great urge to go to him, but didn't, she held her ground. She walked up to her however, and stood towering over her, "My daughter... with this life, I give your the fierceness to fight of any enemy, big or small," She said, and for what seemed a moon, there was an explosion of pain, causing her gasp, and fall. She gripped the ground with her claws, eyes wild and seeing nothing, but then they cleared, and there was a new glint to them.
Her father had moved back, returning into the dim blurriness, and now stepped forward and new cat, her caregiver, and a cat she knew and loved, Orangespots, her mother. Her mothers face was lit up in a smile, and Silkfur took a deep breath, so happy to see her. She didn't dare say anything though, for this was a ceremony, and something inside her told her not to interrupt the cycle it was going through. Her mother stopped standing over her, suddenly looking strong and bold, "With this life, I give the ability to love, if its with another cat, for just your clan," This time, instead of pain, there was a weightlessness feeling, like she wasn't attached to her body any longer. In a way, this was even scarier then the pain, and she squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for it to be over.
Like before, her mother moved back without a goodbye, and next there was another cat moving forward, but instead it was just a kit. She did not recognize this little bundle of fur, pelt bristling and jumping with excitement. He stopped in front of her, face alit with a smile, "I'm Fishkit! Your brother you never knew! With this life! I give you the ability to know and see, for there will be many things that you will have to face," This time, her whole pelt was prickling, but it was like an iron hot pick was being poked into her, and she grimaced, for this pain made her aware of everything around her, and the dimness was less for a moment, and she could see every face of every cat. By the time it was over, Fishkit was gone, and another cat was approaching.
Almost instantly, she recognized Briarpaw, who smiled up at her, still looking as an apprentice. Before she could say anything, Briarpaw was speaking, “Silkfur, with this life, I give you speed, the speed so that you may always run with your clan, and never will be left behind,” For many moments, the wind rushed around her, as if she was running at a great speed, and she felt her heart beating, caused by her adrenaline. Then it was gone, she gasped, not sure if she could take four more life’s. She looked up to see her brother, Stonepaw, approaching her, and her throat clenched.
She couldn’t help it, she blurted out, “Stonepaw! You left the clans! What are you doing here?” She asked, and sadness glinted in his amber eyes, “My love betrayed me, she never wanted me… She killed me, and I found myself here, fore I had never stopped believing in Starclan… Silkfur, with this life, I give you the power to be truthful, and see the truth, so that you shall never have to go through what I did,” For a second, her mind was numbed, and she couldn’t think of anything, panic rose in her, but then, like a giant wave had washed through her head, she was able to think again, and relief washed through her.
Next thing she knew, Harespring was approaching her, her fur glinting like a million stars. Silkfur dipped her head, and Harespring smiled at her, “Silkfur, with this life, I give you’re the power to believe, so that you will always be certain, and your paws shall never falter,” For this life, a tingling spread out through out her whole body, moving through her line a wind might gust by you for a second. Then it was gone, and Harespring was gone, returned back to the spot where she had been standing before. Silkfur looked around, trying to see who would come next, for she didn’t know any other dead cats beside Guststar, who was not moving forward yet.
Suddenly, to her surprise, the deputy before her stepped out, his name popped into her head, Wisefoot. His black fur was streaked with grey, but his eyes sparkled like he had a thousand cats inside him. He moved towards her, and dipped his head, “With this life, I give you boundless energy, so that you will never tire when protecting your clan,” Suddenly, she felt as though she had all the energy in the world, and it gave her the odd sensation that she was going to burst. She gripped the ground, and when she opened her eyes, Guststar was approaching her.
He stopped in front of her, his eyes holding all the wisdom in the world, and she braced herself, unsure of what was about to come, “Silkfur… with this life, I give you the ability to lead, for you shall need it in the times to come,” and for was seemed moons and moons, all of the feelings that she had had with her former life’s came back to her in one giant wave, almost pushing her to a crumpled heap. Her breath quickened, and her heartbeat went wild. Slowly though, it faded away, and she found herself back in the clearing, and Guststar was still in front of her.
“Silkfur is no more, from now on, until you join us here, you shall be known as Silkstar. Embrace your new life, lead your clan well, and never forget who you are, for you are now the Leader of Sunclan, and it is your destiny!” His voice rang out, and cheers broke out around her, crying out her new name. She gasped, belt bristling. Silkstar! Silkstar! They cheered out, and then, slowly, the noise faded, darkness pushed in on her vision, and she found herself back at the Starpool, the power of Starclan seeming to be in her limbs.
She pushed herself to her feet, and her medicine cat dipped her head, her eyes sparkling, Silkstar turned towards the horizon, ready to take on this path.
