Rigged Hearts
Soft paw steps could be heard apon the soft ground and a lengthy tom paced back and forth inside the woods. He was well away from camp, and it was just past dawn, patrols already sent he had snuck away. Telling Treetop to meet him here the night before. Treetop was a dear friend to him, yet he did feel something stronger, and when he spoke to her, butterflys flew inside his stomach and he felt so alive. He knew so close after her mothers death she wouldnt want to really have a mate, but he wanted to comfort her, and be there for her. Show her how much he really cared. Riggedheart loved her very much, and he didnt know how she felt about him, but he knew he was tired of hiding the fact that he loved her. Knowing she would soon be coming close to him he sat down, taking a cool mask over his worried expression, a comforting mask, one to show her he cared. he began to groom his cream and black striped pelt letting himself relax as he did so, he tried pushing down the tufts of fur on his chest, only to become aggravated with them and soon give up grooming. Impatiently he waited, hoping she would soon come through the thick undergroth, and her pretty frame, and sweet personality would warm his soul. He perked his ears, listning for the sounds of approaching paw steps, his heart racing in his chest.

Treetop followed Riggedheart's scent through the forest. He wanted to talk to her, but she didn't know what it was about. The she-cat softly padded through the forest in hopes of surprising her friend. She knew something was up with him when he asked her to meet her secretly. Treetop had seen the look on her brother's face. He was jealous! Treetop approached Riggedheart and sat down, "You wanted to talk to me Riggedheart? What about? Do not forget I have warrior duties to attend to now that I am a new warrior." The young she-cat had only been a warrior for a moon now and she was still anxious about it. She and her brother were the newest warriors in the Clan, but not for long. When the time was right Dragonflypaw and Wishingpaw would become apprentices and Dragonflypaw would be mates with Cloudstorm. Treetop already knew that, but she didn't know why she was here with Riggedheart unles.... "You love me don't you? Not just as a friend, but something more, like matewise?" Suddenly Treetop understood. She didn't have to hide her feelings any longer.
The young she-cat nuzzled Riggedheart and whispered, "Right now I am not ready for a mate, but later when I am ready for one will you be the one that I choose? Will you be the one that father's my kits? Oh Riggedheart I hope so because I love you too." The she-cat purred happily. She loved Riggedheart, but she knew it was too soon for them to be mates.

"I knew it was something like that" Riggedheart purred. "Yes I do love you and yes I hope to be the one you choose. I have loved you for a long time, I never wanted any other she-cat" he said softly. "I know it is too soon for us to be, with your mothers passing and new warriorship and all. But I will wait. I just had to tell you, I had to tell you how much I absolutely needed you in my life" he said softly, nuzzling her cheek. "I know all about the warrior duties. I too have mine. So, we should hunt, and we cant talk as well. That way it doesnt look like were slacking our responsibilities" he said softly and winked. He knew the pain of loosing mother and father, he had lost his own. And he knew well his little sister had feelings for Cloudstorm, and Cloudstorm for her, he hoped that would work for them, because he knew this would work for him and Treetop. He smiled and stood. "Come, let us hunt, and talk. We can take it back to the clan" he said softly. He had yet to eat that mourning and his stomach growled for food, but he ignored it knowing it would only drive him to hunt better, and he knew he could resist until they reached the camp.
